Want to organize your junk drawer? How about your closet? Need help coordinating your wardrobe or your bedroom? Decorating on a budget? Help is on the way.
The history is important because I want you to know where this blog is coming from, and later on in this piece to know where this blog is going.
This blog started as an extra marketing and selling piece for my independent Longaberger home consultant website. From 2010 when the blog started to 2018 when the company closed temporarily, and I no longer had a business.
During this time, as the blog named, Tricia’s Baskets, I provided advice on how to organize and decorate with Longaberger baskets, pottery, wrought iron, and other Longaberger accessories, without breaking the bank. I will be honest, Longaberger products are expensive, and at times it was hard to translate those products into something that was part of a table setting that was budget-friendly, and less country décor. But I got through it, and when Longaberger closed in 2018, ending almost 18 years as an independent home consultant, I decided to concentrate on my other business, which is a stationery design company called P. Lynne Designs.
Since I already had a website and blog concentrating on P. Lynne Designs, I decided to turn Tricia’s Baskets into a lifestyle blog, concentrating on budget decorating, organizing, traveling, and home care. The blog name was changed to At Home with Tricia's Baskets because it was more about the budgeting and less about the product line that was Longaberger.
Present-day and future.
In 2019, a plan was put into place to move At Home with Tricia's Baskets to a more stabilized platform, WordPress, and I began to look into which host would be suitable for the blog. Also, I was not really feeling the new name. I was no longer associated with The Longaberger Company, which closed its door due to bankruptcy and fraud by the then-current owners.
Please note: Longaberger was bought back by Rachel Longaberger-Stuckey, Dave Longaberger’s youngest daughter through a mutual investing company from the then-present owner, The Rochons, A father and son investment company under the name, JrJr.
The Longaberger Company is currently back in business as of July 2020 under the new guidance, including changing the title of Independent Home Consultants to Home Stylists. I decided at this time not to rejoin the company but will support the company. To be honest, the prices are the same as before, and I am concentrating on P. Lynne Designs and being an influencer and writer. I also decided to take any association of Longaberger out of the new blog by removing the “Tricia’s Baskets” from the title, by changing the name of the blog to Home Prep. I also decided to remove the travel portion from the new blog, and give it a new blog called Miss Froggy Loves Traveling.
What is Home Prep?
Home Prep is a blog that budgets, organize, and prepares your home to be the home of your dreams. I always believe that you can have a home that looks like a showroom, but no one but you will know that the containers may have come from the dollar store, your utensils once belonged in another kitchen, and that you built that entertainment center. Home Prep is more than budgeting for your organization and decoration, it is a feeling.
Home Prep is a blog that gives organizing tips and tricks. I am no expert, but I know how to organize. I have collected over 5 years of organization tips that have been tried and stuck with because they work, and they will work to your advantage. Feel free to tweak them to your advantage. This includes using what you have and perhaps revamp to work in a new space in your home. Sometimes that may mean purging or storing in a new place until a permanent solution is given.
Home Prep is preparing for a meal or cleaning schedule. I will admit that I do not and will not have it all put together on some days, but when I do, I know I will have room to do other things in my life, such as being with family, friends, and clients when this pandemic will allow me to do so. This includes having “me time”.
Finally, Home Prep is a blog that gives time. This time is for new adventures and journeys, such as having time to be with family, building a family (marriage, and/or pregnancy or adoption), adoption of pets, taking care of loved ones, running a business, or being cared for for yourself.
So, if you want to know how to purge, organize your closet, prepare for a new change in your life, decorate a living room space, or finding time to get a massage without going crazy, this blog is for you.
